How long have I been out of the hospital?
Friday I went to a follow-up appointment for my low phosphate levels and had a blood test. No feedback yet but it will call Monday (or ask Tuesday) what my reading was.
I have not felt tingly or weak like it did when my levels were low. So that is good.
This Tuesday I have a follow-up for my carotid dissection (CAD). Hopefully they have the written report and follow-up instructions from Phoenix. We are still not sure if they wanted a CT at 6 weeks or 6 months. We heard different from the doctor and the admin nurse in Phoenix.
My headaches seem to be lessening daily and can be managed with Tramadol, Tylenol or a combo. I also still take Opana, a time-release oxy-morphone, but it runs out in a few days. I am hoping I will not need it as it keeps me from driving. My first summer class starts in a week and it would be nice to drive myself as I am about four weeks behind on my podcast listening. :). The headaches don't seem to be lingering in the background as much as before. Maybe I am just getting accustomed to the issue.
My torqued tongue is still causing me speech issues. Again, this is supposed to reduce as the CAD clot reduces. If not, I may have to look into some speech therapy. I will ask about that on Tuesday.
My assignment officer is starting the paperwork to get me assigned to Colorado following graduation! I have a few admin things to clean up (curse you AKO) and those orders should push through.
Thanks again to everyone that wrote to me and helped out me or my family!

So good to read of your improvement. We continue to pray for you and others at church continue asking for updates. We're so glad the headaches are subsiding.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the "_codone" stuff; I got off of it as quickly as I dared after my knee surgery. I cared neither for the "fuzzy" nor intestinal effects. So there's no driving restriction if you're still taking the Tramadol?
I'm just climbing back into the driver's seat myself. I am now allowed to bend my leg up to 50 deg - which is enough for me to awkwardly get into our van with the seat pushed back, leaning back, and tilted back. It takes me longer to get in-and-out than to drive any place, so it's not for long excursions, but I think Elaine's delighted that I'll be driving myself to my physical therapy - and I think Janessa's happy that she's back in the middle seat instead of the far back!
Love and prayers,

ReplyDeleteGlad to read that you are on the mend as well. Science and medicine can do some amazing things these days. 100 years ago you would probably have had it amputated. :(
I am grateful to all the doctors and nurses that so professionally cared for me. I am forever gratefu to my lovely bride to spent every minute with me that she could. My parents were great sitters for the boys while we were in Phoenix. The boys were good about their schedules being messed up. A local friend provided helping hands and distant family and friends provided me with a wonderful get well gift that is very liberating for me limited physical functionality. I was impressed by what a little physical work by a few helping hands can accomplish.
I will have to read about that Tramadol. It is a six hour med so perhaps, if I need it, I can take it during class and it will wear off before class is over. The Opana has not caused any fuzzy; it is a low dose time-release.
Thanks for the comments. Here's to 50 degree knee mobility!

"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." -Matt 6:5-6
ReplyDeleteYou must be delighted with all the prayers. Glad you are doing somewhat better. Didn't know about the torqued tongue. Are you sure it isn't a forked tongue?
